International Affairs Committee
The mission of AMIA’s International Affairs Committee is to participate in the international scientific community for biomedical informatics research and to support the increasing use of health informatics globally to improve public health and the quality and efficiency of health care.
The vision guiding AMIA’s International Affairs Committee is that (a) interactions among international biomedical informatics researchers will improve scientific progress in the field and that (b) greater use of health informatics concepts and applications will enhance communication between and among providers and their patients to improve the quality and effectiveness of care while, at the same time, providing care managers and policy makers with the timely, detailed data necessary to manage care effectively and efficiently at the local, regional, and national levels.
The goals of AMIA’s International Affairs Committee are (1) to provide intellectual support and collaboration for the efforts of AMIA and its members to promote biomedical and health informatics globally and (2) to be AMIA’s representative to IMIA and other global, regional, and national biomedical and health informatics organizations.
